Well, before you do that you may want to consider applying for a scholarship or grant before there isn’t any use and it’s too late. Every year there are numerous scholarships and grants available to college students in their first, second or third year. It is wise to take those opportunities and use them, but did you know that even if you are not in school that there are grants and scholarships available for a wide range of people. From single moms, to divorced dads, to seniors wanting to return to school, there is likely a scholarship or grant available.

How do you find out about these scholarships and grants? A good way is to do a little research online and at your local college or university. See what available in your state and in your local area. You may learn that only half of the grants or scholarships out there are available for you.

Once you find out what is available the next step is to see if you can qualify for any of them. Some may require an essay or research project while others will look to your financial situation to help you out. There are even grants out there that are specific to your ethnic background or heritage. If you didn’t know that, simply look it up online or ask someone at your college in the careers department.

From here the next part is to do all the pre-requisites for the scholarship or grant. This can take some time but make sure you do a good job on it as these organizations will get hundreds, if not thousands of entries and they must sort through them to find ones that are worthy for their grant or scholarship. The best thing to do, if it’s a writing task, is to make it interesting and unique so that it can grab their attention.

So before hitting the waves and sun tanning in Florida, take a minute or two to look for some grants or scholarships that can be useful to you next year.
