• Volunteer With Children – become a Girl Scout Leader or volunteer at the YMCA. It’s important to surround yourself with children and in particular with the age your want to teach. Learn their emotional development as well as their social development.
• Go To School For A Day – it’s a good idea to visit a classroom of the grade you would like to teach and see what’s involved from planning to teaching.
• Talk To A Teacher – get an insider view of what being a teacher is all about before you make this career change.
• Decide What College To Go To – If your town has one school then it’s no problem in choosing but if you have a choice of going to a school look around first and research your options.
• Apply Before The Deadline – it’s important to get all the paperwork and application to the teaching program filled and sent before the expected due date.

Now you wait. If you get accepted then that is great news. Most teaching schools will have a 1 or 2 year program. This is a rewarding career and one that will always be available so start your way to becoming a teacher.
